What is Perimenopause?

The dictionary defines it as the period in a woman’s life before the menopause.
What this actually means varies from woman to woman, and to understand it better, we need to understand all the stages of menopause. Perimenopayse can last for 10+ years, and the average lenth of time a woman spends in this 'second puberty' is 4 years.

Menopause

This is the point in time when you have not had a period for 12 months.

Obviously with some birth control methods this can be difficult to ascertain as some women go for many years without periods.

Post menopause

The rest of your life after hitting menopause. Some women find their symptoms decline relatively soon after they are free of periods for a year, while others find they continue to experience them for some time after.

Each woman is different. These distinctions are often overlooked, meaning everything gets put under the menopause banner. In turn this often means that younger women don’t think their symptoms can possibly be linked to the menopause as they are still having periods.

The Perimenopause Hub has come about to provide information, support and expert help to guide each woman through this stage of her life in the way she chooses.

We are all different, some women find that HRT suits them very well, others prefer to manage their symptoms by altering their diet, while others prefer a more holistic route.

Furthermore, some women find that once they understand what is going on, they just want help navigating the changes in their body so they can take on the next phase of their life.

There is no right or wrong way to ride this rollercoaster, here at the Hub we want to help you find YOUR way.
